Winged Death...

Aka: "... to some."

Bee's have always been strange to me. Some are little and buzz around minding their own business and you never really notice them as they poke around their chosen flowers. Others are these massive things that sound like a harrier jet while they're in motion, accompanied by the "BZZZZZZZZZZZZ" that everyone knows so well.

This is one of the latter

It's also on one of the thistles in my backyard, which at that point were in full bloom.

I decided to put up this pic because of the sheer detail that shows in the wings. They're fantastically fragile things, but to see them like this you wouldn't really know it.

And P.S. : photographing bee's is a bitch, because they never stay still
